There is a long Rose border, containing dozens of fragrant heritage roses. The Friends group recently installed a bug hotel and hope to create a wild flower, unmown area this year. In normal times,The Friends organise two free concerts each year: Music in the Park, the summer band concert, and Carols in the Park in December. Other community events organised by the Friends include Spring walks, Bat walks, and an Easter egg hunt, Historically there has been a wonderful and very popular children's paddling pool. This has now become too aged for renovation and the Friends are working with the Parks Managers (id verde) to advocate for a community water feature in the future. The Rec is very popular with dog walkers and runners, the benches providing resting place for strollers and observers of life.
