The Lower Crane Valley is a linked network of open spaces along the River Crane. These open spaces include areas of grassland, heathland, wetland, woodland and scrub and provide an important corridor for wildlife. The area has a rich industrial and archaeological history. There are places to explore, play, exercise and learn in, plus playgrounds for children to enjoy. Twickenham Rough was formally opened in October 2018 and provides the final link in a surfaced route through open spaces along the River Crane between the station and west Twickenham. It is used by lots of people as a route to school, college or work.
